CARTINGTON PARISH COUNCIL

 

 

 

The Meeting of Cartington Parish Council was held in the Dovecote Room at the Jubilee Hall on Monday 17th January 2011.

 

PRESENT : Councillors I Armstrong (Chairman)

                                      PC Steve Gresswell , Rothbury Police                 

                                               

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE : An apologies was received from Councillor Steven Bridgett, NCC.

 

DECLARATION OF INTERESTS : None

 

MINUTES : The Minutes of the last meetings were circulated, confirmed that they were in order and signed by the Chairman.

 

MATTERS ARISING : Councillor Macey and Councillor Duff apologised for not writing letter re parking but Councillor Macey had completed the parking questionnaire.

The road from Cartington to Lorbottle had huge holes in it and the edges were coming away despite best efforts – the Clerk to contact NCC.

 

ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT : It was agreed to pay Mrs A Winter £265.25 for honorarium for the year ending 31.3.2011.  Also £60.00 for 4 x room rent for meetings.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT – The Clerk reported that after paying out the cheques above there would be £64.31 to carry forward to the next financial year.

 

PLANNING : No planning applications had been received.

 

POLICE REPORT : PC Gresswell reported that crimes over the whole of the Alnwick area were down and there had been no crimes at all in the Cartington Parish.  He pointed out that scrap thieves are in the area again – cast iron gates and guttering had been stolen from properties and a quad bike theft.  It was thought that a notice to the householders should be put onto the

web site warning them to be vigilant.  Councillor Macey would see Mr Hodgson to see if a link could be made to Farm Watch site.

The pot holes were getting worse along by Burnfoot and Cragend.  Councillor Armstrong reported that on the bank coming down past The Kennels (New Moor House to Rothbury road) the road was starting to subside. 

 

CORRESPONDENCE :

Letters were received from Action for Children, The Samaritans, Alnwick Playhouse and Great North Air Ambulance.  It was agreed not to donate -apart from the Great North Air Ambulance and that was to be brought back to next meeting to decide.

Minutes of the Rothbury Joint Burial committee were passed around.

Northumberland County Council wrote advising people that the Planning Portal were closing the c-consultation hub from 10th December 2010.  The Planning Service are currently in the process of acquiring new computer systems which will include similar services.

 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:

The closing down of the National Parks Centre in Rothbury was discussed.  This also meant the loss of the Tourist Information Office.  There is to be a consultation period if people want to write in with their thoughts.
